McLean Woman Scammed, Car Stolen
MCLEAN, VA – An 89-year-old woman who lives just south of Kirby Road near Longfellow School was scammed and had her car stolen, Fairfax County police reported Thursday afternoon.
County police gave this account of the incident that occurred last week: The womn got lost in the Leesburg area. Two men offered to escort her home in her car for a fee. She agreed and the men returned the victim to her home in the area of Hopewood Drive and Rosecroft Place, just south of Kirby Road near Westmoreland Street.
She paid them an undisclosed amount in cash. The next day, family members visited her and noticed her car was missing. Further investigation revealed that the car key had been taken off of the key ring.
The two men were described as white, between 40 and 50 years old and about 6 feet tall. The stolen car is a 2000 silver Mercedes-Benz E320 with Virginia license plate number 426-2000.
