MCLEAN, VA – Overnight closures of westbound I-66 at the Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) split will continue intermittently Monday, Aug. 30 through Thursday, Sept. 2, causing significant detours.

The closures will allow Dulles rail construction crews to build large concrete structures that will straddle over the road between piers near where the new rail line will merge into Metro’s existing Orange Line. The structures are known as “straddle bents.” Traffic will not be allowed below this construction work for safety reasons.

Closings will occur from midnight to 5 a.m. All lanes will be reopened by morning rush hours.

When I-66 westbound lanes close, thru traffic will be detoured on to the Dulles Connector Road west bound, to Route 123 south toward Tysons Corner, to a right turn to the ramp to the Capital Beltway south toward Richmond. Drivers can then rejoin I-66 from the Beltway. For traffic seeking destinations inside the Beltway, drivers have options to exit I-66 prior to the I-66/Dulles Connector Road split.

REMINDER: Two Ramps Overnights at I-495 at Route 123 Interchange Closed

Two ramps at the I-495/Route 123 interchange In Tysons Corner will continue to close overnights between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. through Saturday, Aug. 28, for overhead truss assembly. Detour information for each ramp is as follows:

Southbound I-495 to Southbound Route 123
Continue on southbound I-495
Exit 46B to northbound Route 123 (toward McLean)
Stay on ramp to briefly enter northbound I-495
Exit 46A to access southbound Route 123 (toward Tysons Corner)

Southbound Route 123 to Southbound I-495
Continue on southbound Route 123 (Chain Bridge Road)
Right on International Drive
Right on Galleria Drive
Right on Tysons Boulevard
Slight left on to northbound Route 123
Take an immediate right on to the on-ramp to southbound I-495
